Noah Tankersley offers private, in-home piano lessons in Edina, Minneapolis, Bloomington, Richfield and St. Louis Park. An active band performer and music performance graduate, he brings a strong ear and a broad musical background to his teaching. Students can develop technique, explore music they enjoy and build listening skills that help them connect what they hear with what they play.
From learning independently to performing with a band
Originally from rural Minnesota, Noah began learning piano at a young age and developed his skills independently throughout middle and high school. He moved to Minneapolis for formal training in 2015 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with an emphasis in piano in 2020. His musical background spans classical, jazz, Latin American, R&B, rock and pop.
Noah has performed at weddings, private events and local venues since 2016 and continues to perform regularly with a band. Playing by ear is one of his strengths, and performing with other musicians gives him regular opportunities to put his listening, timing and musical expression into practice. He brings that experience into lessons, helping students develop technique, explore their creativity and connect with music that matters to them.

Playing by ear and listening closely
Playing by ear is one of Noah’s strengths. Students interested in this skill can work on recognizing melodies, rhythms and chord changes, then connecting what they hear with the keyboard. Ear training complements reading music and technique, giving students another way to understand and enjoy what they play.
Experience beyond the practice room
Noah performs regularly with a band, where listening, timing and responding to other musicians are part of every performance. He brings that perspective into lessons, helping students connect piano technique with rhythm, expression and the experience of making music.
Clear steps and useful practice
Lessons build on what the student understands and identify a manageable next step. Practice guidance gives students something specific to work on between lessons. For younger learners, parents are included in that conversation so they know how to help at home, even without a musical background.

From classical pieces to jazz, R&B, rock and pop, Noah welcomes students’ musical interests. Favorite songs can give new skills a purpose, with suitable pieces or simpler arrangements providing a starting point. More demanding music becomes a goal to work toward as skills develop.
He was very patient with us while we tried several teachers to see which one clicked. They were all nice, but we chose Noah. Our 13 year old son has really been enjoying lessons with him.

Noah offers in-home piano lessons in Edina, Minneapolis, Bloomington, Richfield and St. Louis Park. Learning on your own instrument helps connect each lesson with your practice at home. We will help you find a regular weekly lesson time based on your address and Noah’s availability.
There is no added travel fee within our service area, and prices are the same for in-home and studio lessons. Students who prefer studio lessons can study with Soroush at our Edina studio at 7300 Gallagher Drive. Tell us your preferred setting when you contact us. Explore all our locations.

Your first conversation is with Soroush, who aims to respond within 24 hours. Share the student’s age, musical interests, preferred lesson setting and availability, along with anything that helps them feel comfortable learning. He uses that information to recommend a teacher, whether Noah or another member of our team.
The free 30-minute trial gives the student time to meet their teacher, try learning together and see how the connection feels. Afterward, Soroush follows up privately to hear from you and the student. There is no obligation to continue, and another trial lesson with a different teacher is available to help you explore a better fit.
That support continues once weekly lessons begin. Soroush stays in touch, and you can contact him whenever you have questions or would like to explore a different teaching approach.
