Two ways to learn

We are taking new students in St. Louis Park, at home or at the studio. In-home and studio lessons cost the same, so the choice is only ever about what suits the student, never about price.

In-home piano lessons across St. Louis Park

We take in-home students across the whole city and every zip code in it: Browndale, Minikahda Vista and Brookside in the south, Fern Hill, Lenox and the Wolfe Park neighborhoods through the middle, Elmwood and Birchwood either side of Highway 7, and Texa-Tonka, Aquila, Oak Hill and Westwood Hills out west.

St. Louis Park is a compact city, and learning at home lets students use their own instrument without adding a weekly drive. We coordinate a regular lesson time around your address and the teacher’s availability.

There is no travel fee. An in-home lesson in St. Louis Park costs exactly what the same lesson costs at the studio. We would rather a teacher reached your child than have the drive priced into a reason not to start.

Same price as the studio. Nothing added for travel.

Soroush Naji teaches studio lessons at 7300 Gallagher Drive in Edina, near 76th and France. Allow approximately 8 to 12 minutes from many parts of St. Louis Park, depending on your starting point and traffic. Check directions from your address when planning your visit.

Coming to the studio gives piano its own place in the week. For some students, stepping away from familiar distractions makes it easier to settle into learning. Soroush offers a welcoming, low-pressure setting where lessons balance focused work with encouragement and enjoyment. Free parking is available directly outside.

Studio lessons are with Soroush, while our other teachers teach in students’ homes. Changing between the two requires advance notice and depends on teacher availability and studio openings.

Every age

Piano lessons for kids, teens and adults in St. Louis Park

Every piano lesson is built around the student’s age, interests and pace of learning. For younger students, our teachers involve parents by explaining what to practice each week and sharing ways to help at home. No musical background is needed. Across all ages, we set manageable goals, work through challenges and celebrate progress. Our aim is to help students build musical skills and enjoy the process, without expecting every week to be perfect.

Young beginners, ages 3 to 7

Readiness looks different for every child. For ages three and four, we choose teachers experienced with this age group. Playful activities introduce sounds, rhythm and keyboard patterns, gradually leading to simple songs as the child is ready. The goal is curiosity and a musical foundation, without rushing milestones. Include your child’s age when booking a free trial so you can meet the teacher, discuss their approach and explore whether now is the right time to begin.

Elementary and middle school

Your child does not need to have started in preschool to begin piano now. We welcome beginners and continuing students, building reading, rhythm and technique through music that interests them. Clear weekly goals and manageable practice steps help students become more independent, while parents learn how to support them without taking over. Whether piano was your child’s idea or something you are exploring together, we help them find reasons to keep learning and feel proud of their progress.

High school students

Whether starting, returning or continuing, teens have a say in what they want from piano. We help them set meaningful goals and plan focused practice around classes, activities and busy weeks. Favorite songs give lessons direction, while reading and technique develop step by step, with simpler arrangements when helpful. The aim is to make progress manageable and give students a reason to keep playing that feels like their own.

Adults

Whether you are starting for the first time or returning after years away, piano can be something you do for yourself. We work toward music you enjoy, building the skills it requires at a pace that fits your experience and schedule. Haven’t practiced this week? You are still welcome: your lesson offers guided practice and a chance to regain momentum. Regular practice supports progress, but perfection is never expected. Recitals are optional, and there is no minimum commitment.

How to start

Start with a conversation and a free trial

Contact Soroush about lessons at home in St. Louis Park or at our Edina studio. He aims to respond within 24 hours. If he cannot answer while teaching, leave a voicemail with your name, the student’s name and age, and your preferred lesson setting.

For studio lessons, Soroush shares his availability. For in-home lessons, he discusses your schedule, interests and learning needs to recommend a teacher. The free 30-minute trial lets the student meet their teacher and try learning together without obligation.

Celebrating student progress

Our annual piano recital: a celebration at no extra cost

Our annual piano recital brings students, families and teachers together to celebrate a year of learning, with smiles, snacks and no participation or admission fees. We are proud to make this celebration part of belonging to Naji Piano School, at no extra cost to families.

Each performance gives families a chance to see and hear what students and teachers have been working on: skills developed, challenges worked through and music brought to life. It is a moment to recognize the student’s effort, the teacher’s guidance and the time and support families invest throughout the year.

Participation is encouraged, never required. Teachers help students choose music and prepare at a comfortable pace, with the focus on sharing progress rather than delivering a perfect performance. Whether playing or cheering each other on, students can enjoy being part of a supportive musical community.

The teachers who travel to St. Louis Park

Finding the right piano teacher starts with listening. Soroush considers your goals, interests and what helps the student learn. For children under five, we choose teachers experienced with younger beginners. Families of neurodivergent students are welcome to share support needs or helpful approaches. After the free trial, Soroush follows up privately, and another trial lesson is available to explore a better fit.

Once lessons begin, a shared group chat keeps families, their teacher and Soroush connected. He checks in every three to six months, and you can reach out at any time. Another trial lesson with a suitable teacher can be arranged, subject to availability, even after weekly lessons are underway.

From first lessons to recitals, here is what our families and students say.

Soroush is a great teacher. He takes the time needed to connect with the kids and also pays close attention to the details of how they play. Soroush is also fabulous in connecting with the parents, communicates the needs of the students and reflects back on the work they do.

I’m an adult learner and Soroush has been an awesome teacher. Extremely thoughtful in his approach, very encouraging and patient. Also, has a great sense of humor that makes lessons fun.

He also works with a team of talented teachers who can provide in-home lessons, which makes learning music so accessible and convenient for families. One thing we especially appreciate is that he offers a free introductory lesson, allowing families to make sure it’s the right fit before committing.

MinooGoogle review · Jan 2026

He’s patient, very knowledgeable, and adapts his teaching style to each child’s personality and learning pace. Our kids not only improved their piano skills but also developed discipline and genuine interest in music. Highly recommended for families looking for a long-term teacher who actually understands how to teach children.

Questions

Questions from St. Louis Park families

Do you cover all of St. Louis Park for in-home lessons?

Yes, the whole city, every neighborhood and every zip code. If you are just over the line in a neighboring city, ask anyway and we will tell you honestly whether a teacher can get to you at a sensible time.

How far is your studio from St. Louis Park?

Our studio is at 7300 Gallagher Drive in Edina, near 76th and France. The drive is approximately 8 to 12 minutes from many parts of St. Louis Park, though travel time varies with your starting point and traffic. Check directions from your address for a more specific estimate.

Is there an extra charge for coming to my house?

No. In-home and studio lessons are the same price: $50 for 30 minutes, $70 for 45 and $90 for an hour.

Can we switch between in-home and studio lessons?

Yes, with some notice. Tell your teacher before you want the change rather than on the day: studio lessons are with Soroush, and studio time is limited at some hours. Give us a little warning and we will do our best to make it work.

Can lessons work around the St. Louis Park Public Schools calendar?

We help families choose a weekly lesson time that fits their school schedule. For conference weeks, early-release days and school breaks, let us know about planned changes in advance. Rescheduling depends on teacher availability and follows our cancellation and makeup policy.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

We understand that plans change. With at least 24 hours’ notice, we can offer a makeup lesson, subject to availability, or a credit toward the following month’s invoice. Lessons canceled with less notice are normally charged, since that time is reserved for you and can be difficult to fill. Your teacher may choose to waive the charge for a first-time cancellation or an unexpected emergency. We support their discretion while respecting their time. Please let us know as soon as you can.

Do we need a real piano to start?

You do not need an acoustic piano to begin. In-home lessons require a suitable keyboard or piano; if you do not have one, you can start with a trial at our Edina studio. For ongoing learning we recommend a digital piano with 88 full-size, fully weighted keys, and a keyboard with at least 61 full-size, touch-sensitive keys is fine for the early stages. Send us the model name or a photo of what you already have and we will help you assess it.

What ages and skill levels do you teach?

Ages three and up, with no upper age limit: young beginners, teenagers, adults learning for the first time and players coming back after years away. We will help you find a teacher suited to the student’s experience, interests and goals.

How does the free trial lesson work?

Your free 30-minute trial lets you meet your teacher, try making music and discuss your goals. The school pays the teacher in full; there is no cost or obligation for you. Soroush follows up privately afterward, and we can arrange another trial lesson with a different teacher to explore a better fit.

How does payment work?

You will receive one invoice at the beginning of each month for that month’s scheduled lessons, due before the first lesson of the month. We usually send payment requests through Zelle or Venmo, and other options are available, including an emailed invoice you can pay by card.

Do you offer piano recitals, and is there an extra fee?

Yes. Our annual piano recital is free for students and their families, with no participation or admission fees. It is a friendly celebration with music, snacks and a chance to share the progress students and teachers have made together. Teachers help students prepare, and participation is encouraged, never required.

Do you also teach in Edina?

Yes. Soroush teaches at our Edina studio, and our other teachers offer in-home lessons throughout Edina, subject to availability. Explore our Edina piano lesson options.
