Part-time teaching · Fixed lesson pay · A supportive team
Piano Teacher Jobs in the Twin Cities
Teach piano with a school that values your time, skills and experience. Naji Piano School welcomes part-time piano teachers serving Edina, Minneapolis, Bloomington, Richfield and St. Louis Park. Most lessons take place in students’ homes within an agreed service area; teachers with their own suitable teaching space are also welcome. We offer fixed payments of $35, $49 and $65 per lesson, depending on lesson length, with direct support from founder Soroush Naji.
Part-time piano teacher
We’re looking for dependable piano teachers who combine strong musicianship with patience, clear communication and genuine warmth. Our students range from children as young as three to adults, but teachers are matched with the ages and skill levels they are comfortable and experienced teaching. You do not need to teach every age or level to join our team.
This is primarily an in-home opportunity. We discuss your availability and the areas you can reasonably serve before arranging student matches. Soroush is currently the only teacher at our Edina studio; that space is not available for other teachers’ lessons.
If you have your own piano teaching space in one of our five service cities, we would be happy to consider it. Share its location and a few photos so we can review whether it is suitable for lessons through the school. Having your own space is a plus, not a requirement.
Building your schedule: Teachers are considered for suitable student inquiries as they arise. Joining our team does not guarantee immediate assignments or a minimum number of weekly lessons. We discuss opportunities openly, including the student’s needs, location and proposed schedule, before arranging a trial.
What you would do
- Teach private piano lessons, primarily in 30-minute sessions, with 45- and 60-minute lessons also available.
- Develop technique, reading, rhythm, listening and musical expression through lessons suited to each student.
- Adapt explanations, activities and pacing when a student needs a different approach.
- Set clear, manageable practice goals that account for the student’s age, experience and schedule.
- Help parents understand younger students’ assignments and how to support practice without needing a musical background.
- Arrive prepared and on time, provide the full scheduled lesson and communicate promptly about changes or concerns.
- Share progress with families and stay in communication with Soroush when additional support is needed.
- Help interested students prepare for the school’s free annual recital; participation is encouraged, never required.
What we ask for
Required qualities
- Strong piano skills and the ability to explain musical concepts clearly.
- Patience, encouragement and an interest in working with children and beginners.
- The ability to notice when a student needs a different explanation, activity or pace.
- Dependability, punctuality and professional communication.
- Willingness to involve parents appropriately in younger students’ learning.
- Reliable transportation when accepting in-home lessons.
Preferred qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in music, piano performance, music education or a related field, preferably with a piano focus.
- Two or more years of experience teaching or working with children of different ages.
- Previous private piano-teaching experience or training in piano pedagogy.
- Your own suitable piano teaching space in one of our service cities.
A degree is valuable, but it does not tell the whole story of a teacher’s ability. We also look for someone who can earn a child’s trust, make room for curiosity and respond thoughtfully when learning becomes challenging. Current college students and applicants without a completed music degree are welcome to apply. Tell us about the experience that has prepared you to teach and connect with students.
Clear, fixed pay for every lesson
Your skills represent years of practice, study and experience. We respect that investment with fixed lesson payments equal to at least 70% of our standard lesson prices. These are the amounts you receive for each lesson length, not estimates or experience-based pay ranges.
70% of our standard $50 lesson price.
70% of our standard $70 lesson price.
More than 70% of our standard $90 lesson price.
We publish our fixed lesson payments so you can evaluate the opportunity clearly.
Free for the family. Paid for the teacher.
Families receive a free trial, and the school pays you the full agreed lesson rate for your time. Before the trial, Soroush shares the student’s age, goals and relevant learning needs, along with the location and proposed schedule, so you can discuss whether the match suits your experience and availability.
After the trial, Soroush checks in with you and the family. We want students to feel comfortable with their teacher and teachers to feel supported in the match. The conversation continues as weekly lessons develop, with room to raise concerns or discuss a different arrangement.
Work with us, not just for us
Teacher satisfaction is one of our school’s core values. We see teachers as collaborators in building a school that works for everyone: students, families and teachers. Your time, skills and perspective matter, and we want you to feel comfortable speaking up when something is not working. Supporting families should go hand in hand with supporting the people who teach them.
Before bringing other teachers into Naji Piano School, Soroush spent more than five years teaching at music schools across the Twin Cities. He brings that experience to the way he runs the school, remembering what helped him as a teacher and what could have been handled better. Every teacher can contact him directly with questions, concerns or ideas.
A schedule agreed together
Tell us when you are available and which areas you can reasonably serve. We consider travel and existing commitments before proposing student matches. Once a weekly lesson time is agreed, we ask for consistent attendance and early communication when changes are needed.
Room to teach thoughtfully
Bring your personality, musical interests and teaching ideas to each lesson. We value strong foundations and clear goals, while recognizing that students need different paths to understanding. Adapt your approach, explore music that interests them and help families make practice manageable.
Support beyond the match
The school handles marketing and billing and helps coordinate student matches and scheduling. You remain involved in preparation and family communication, with Soroush available directly for support. Shared conversations and regular check-ins help us address concerns and keep lessons working well for everyone.
